Domestic violence, or DV, is a pattern of behaviors directed at achieving and maintaining power and control over an intimate partner.  It rears its ugly head in the form of physical violence, emotional abuse, economic abuse, isolation of the victim, intimidation and threats.  It knows no color or socio-economic circumstance.  Yet African American women experience DV at a rate 35% higher than their white counterparts and are less likely to seek help.  On the next Another View on Health we will talk about DV with two experts on the subject, Neisha Himes, a survivor of domestic violence and Founder of G.R.O.W. Foundation; and Mary Kate Andris, President and CEO of the YWCA, South Hampton Roads.  Join us for a frank discussion on breaking the cycle of Domestic Violence on the next Another View on Health, co-hosted by Cardiologist Dr. Keith Newby,  Friday, March 23 at noon on 89.5 WHRV-FM or stream us live on this blog!
